I (re)learned an important life lesson today: "microwave safe" does not mean "safe to handle after microwaving." This life lesson holds true, especially, when microwaving a particularly dense organic jewel yam from Whole Foods Market.
I can only assume that "microwave safe" actually means one of three things:
1. The dish will not melt into molten lava when microwaved (though one's hands might, if one touches it without proper protection).
2. The microwave will not explode or burst into flames.
3. Any food prepared in said dish will not become radioactive after microwaving (at least, not any more than it would already from absorbing the microwave's radiation).
Pictures from the summer, coming soon.

Disappearing for the Summer
I'm pretty much disappearing for the summer.
Go to my other blog at http://secondcrazynewmexicosummer.blogspot.com if you want to know what I'm doing. Otherwise, expect me to come back in August. Woo hoo!

Oklahoma (City).
Oklahoma is beautiful and Arkansas was infinitely better than i expected. Great food all around (though toilets are harder to come by).
Texas and New Mexico tomorrow. I could keel over with joy.

Leaving in a Volvo. (Don't know when I'll be back again.)
I've had John Denver stuck in my head for the past week. Except instead of a jet plane, I'm leaving in a Volvo. And I'm not sad to be leaving. And I don't plan on marrying someone as soon as I make it back (whenever that happens... but I usually trail off by that part of the song, anyways, so really, it doesn't matter).
Just for fun, here are some pictures of Nina (my trusty steed on this cross-[most-of]-country adventure), just after I washed all the pollen off of her last week.
And so, my adventure begins.

My room is full of treasures.
I found this on my floor while cleaning (it fell off of my 5th grade science project; I think it's a good metaphor for my current state):
Also, here are some quotes I found on papers, amidst the clutter:
“It is impossible to enjoy idling thoroughly unless one has plenty of work to do.” - Jerome K. Jerome
“To do good things in the world, first you must know who you are and what gives meaning to your life.” - Paula P. Brownlee
"A cannibal said to her mate
Who was in a deplorable state
Of discomfort, “My dear,
Do you think it’s the beer
Or is it just someone you ate?” - A.N. Wilkins
